Bollywood dancing may look difficult to learn in the beginning, but when broken down into smaller portions, it is quite easy to learn. We have students as young as 3 years old learning Bollywood dancing. Once you establish the building blocks of Bollywood dancing, you need to shift some focus on the fluidity of your dance moves.
Smile
Not to have a science class here but when you smile, you release dopamine which helps fight off stress. In addition, smiling is very contagious to everyone around you. Have you ever noticed that when a person smiles a lot, they are more approachable? The same goes with smiling while dancing, others tend to be near or around you because smiling creates a positive vibe. Some studies also found that smiling may increase your overall lifespan. Pair this with dancing and you have the recipe for the fountain of youth.
Repetition
Do you believe repetition is important? So do we. When it comes to Bollywood Dancing, repetition is key to mastering your craft. If you receive information over and over and over again, it will become familiar to you. This is true when you watch your favorite Bollywood Dancer perform over and over and over again. When you perform the same moves many times, not only it becomes second nature to you, but it becomes muscle memory.
Muscle Memory
This is your subconscious mind memorizing your dance steps if you do it enough times. When you dance enough times, you are storing memories in your brain, so you don’t have to think about what steps you need to take next. Warning, one thing to keep in mind is that you must know the dance technique before it becomes muscle memory.
Music
Have you ever had a song or music give you the chill? When getting in the “GRUV” or feeling the moves, you will need music as it resonates and speaks to you. Each one of us is different and likes different music. The music has to speak to your soul and you will start feeling the moves.
